EDUCATION
1. Primary Education:
There are 133 primary schools in the center of the province as of 2009-2010 school year. The number of student is 72,560 in primary education level and 2,219 in preschool education level. The number of teachers is 130 in preschool education and 3,746 in primary education.
2. Secondary Education:
There are 35 regular high schools, 14 craft and technique high schools, which make up 49 schools in total in the center of the province as of 2009-2010 school year. There are 17,096 students in regular high schools and 15,931 students in vocational and technical high schools which make up 33,027 students in total. There are 1,191 teachers in regular high schools, in craft and technique high schools 1,194 teachers and 2,385 teachers in total.

İ.T.İ.A., School of Economics and Commerce, the oldest academic institution of the province was opened in 1958. As a result of the reconstruction of academic institutions in 1982, Anadolu University was established.It is growing continuously, and has become one the greatest university of the country, Later, Osmangazi University was established on the 18th August, 1993 according to the Decree Law number 496 as a second university.
There are 12 faculties, 6 academies, 3 vocational high school, 1 state conservatory and 7 institutes at Anadolu University.

Osmangazi University was established according to the Decree Law number 496 by separating from Anadolu University in 1993.
